Hypersonic Systems Integrated Demonstrator (HySID)
A subscale HySID vehicle was proposed, built around two primary components: a core airframe and a propulsion module. The core includes the vehicle's primary structure, upper fuselage, fuel tanks, landing gear, wings, canards, and tails. It incorporates all of the vehicle’s non-propulsion systems and subsystems, including secondary power, navigation, flight control, instrumentation, and communication systems.
The overall objective of this effort (Phases I, II, and III) is to fly the HySID subscale shape first at subsonic speeds, and then through transonic speeds, utilizing the appropriate SWB micro-turbojet system [(3) SWB-100 turbojet engines]. The purpose of the present Phase II effort is to complete fabrication of a 15-ft HySID configuration remotely piloted vehicle (RPV) and perform initial flight tests at subsonic speeds.
