Testing

Diameter 3.5"   Fuel consumption 6.76 oz/min (100%)
Length 7.25"     4.73 oz/min (80%)
Weight 1.9 lbs.   EGT 1202F (650C)
Thrust 11.4 lbs   RPM 60,000-150,000
Mass Flow .325 pps   Pressure Ratio 2.8:1

The following consumption figures were determined:

RPM         % Speed      Fuel consumption

120,000      80% (cruise)        4.73oz/min

150,000  100% (max. thrust)   6.76 oz/min

Each Mamba Turbojet is tested before delivery

SWB's performance is guaranteed on every engine

Testing was performed to verify thrust specific fuel consumption (TSFC) for the SWB-11 Mamba Turbojet.  Testing was performed at both cruise (80% speed) and maximum thrust (100% speed) conditions.  Volume changes in a graduated cylinder were recorded with time while the engine ran at the specified speeds.  The test setup is shown in the top 2 pictures…

As with all our turbines, we use a the ASME 19.1 industry standard turbine testing procedures to ensure that all aspects of turbine performance are tested and verified.  This system allows us to guarantee that the turbines performance meets or exceeds calculated specifications.  The same rigorous testing procedure is used for each and every engine Mamba which we assemble here at SWB.  Listed below are just a few of the tests we run.  For more information on our in depth testing please give us a call.

  • CDP pressure check (compressor performance, Dp)

  • Multiple EGT temperature probes to check combustor pattern factor for even temperature distribution.

  • Vibration analysis to analyze shaft critical speeds and rotating component trueness.

  • Thrust measurement are taken at several data points to ensure that the thrust curve is proper over the entire operating range.

  • Fuel pressure checked across entire operating range to verify proper pressure drop across injectors.

  • Fuel flow is measured to determine that thrust specific fuel consumption (TSFC) is correct (See above)

  • Full setup and testing of electronic fuel control including EGT verify with thermocouple calibration unit.

  • Running and seasoning of the engine.
