SWB-65

Give your next program the powerhouse it deserves with a SWB Turbine

SWB Turbines’ SWB-65 has been upgraded to 70 lbs. thrust.  Originally designed for the U.S. Affordable Weapons Program, and is now in a production state.  This engine has been through multiple 10 hour endurance runs, as well as actual flight tests that have run in excess of 600 miles.  A 1kW generator has been incorporated into this engine to power various flight control systems on the aircraft.  The engine is currently started ballistically.  This gives it the ability to be started remotely while installed in a stationary or moving vehicle.  Currently, the engine is installed in a 800 lb. vehicle which is boosted with a solid rocket to an altitude of 1,500 feet.  After the solid rocket booster completes its burn, the SWB Engine Controller Unit (ECU) controls all of the sequences that lead up to engine start-up and engine start.  After the solid rocket separates from the vehicle, the engine is then started ballistically.  From the engine being stationary to full throttle takes less than 2.4 seconds.

SWB ADVANCED ENGINE CONTROLLER

The TJ-70 uses SWB Turbine's military grade engine controller.  It is designed to fire the ballistic start cartridge and explosive separation bolts, as well as interact with various flight systems.  The SWB Advanced ECU monitors and controls all aspects of the engine for failsafe start-up and powerful, predictable operation.

SWB's team properly designs engine cycles for each engine, drawing on extensive experience with military and aerospace projects.  SWB Turbines has teamed with the Aviation Applied Technology Directorate of the US Army, NASA, Hamilton Sundstrand, and others in their years in the industry.  The advanced engine designs offered by SWB Turbines reflect the high performance and high efficiency expectations associated with these customers.  SWB completes a rigorous design process, including combustor and fuel  injector analysis, advanced diffuser aerodynamic design, and in-depth thermodynamic cycle analyses, driving the engineering of every SWB Turbines engine to provide the kind of reliability, power, and fuel efficiency that any customer would expect.
